Five most in-demand UK glamping holiday destinations for 2022
Published on: Dec 17 2021

2022 is set to be a big year for glamping holidays, as many sites are already reporting a surge in early bookings for the coming year. If you’d love to get out in the great British countryside, with a dash of comfort and luxury thrown in – glamping is for you.

Here’s our guide to the best places to go glamping in 2022:

A top pick for 2021/22 by Condé Nast Traveller is Abbeyfield Glamping in Northumberland. This relatively new site is near the market town of Morpeth, and is in the perfect setting for wildlife walks, stargazing and swapping campfire stories.

You’ll stay in a lovingly converted 1964 Bedford horsebox, which comes kitted out with a kitchen, snug living area and even an ensuite rain shower. It’s in an unbelievably beautiful location, with acres of wildflower meadows (full of rabbits and other wildlife) on one side, and the ancient Borough Woods on the other.

Cornwall is set to hold its place as one of the best destinations for camping, glamping and UK holidays well into 2022.

There are hundreds of brilliant sites to choose from, but Condé Nast Traveller particularly recommends The Paddock Wildcamp near Perran Sands. This is a pop-up glamping site with simply beautiful bell tents, which come fully furnished with double beds, rugs and wicker hampers.

It’s a particularly good spot for surfers, as it’s close to Newquay and Fistral Sands as well as Perran Sands.

Head just outside of London and you’ll arrive at gorgeous glamping sites like Home Farm Glamping in Elstree, as recommended by Elle. This is a great pick for first-time glampers, which is why it makes it onto the most in-demand list for 2022. The site nestles on a stunning 150-acre historic parkland estate, so it makes for a great escape from the city.

You can choose from a small collection of yurts and bell tents, each with comfortable beds and lots of lovely extras including afternoon tea hampers.

There’s also lots going on around the site, from yoga in the meadow and nature walks to forest bathing.

Always a popular choice for keen glampers, Pembrokeshire is predicted to remain on the must-visit list for 2022. One of the best sites to try according to is Melin Mabes, set in four acres of stunning natural scenery in Narberth and Templeton.

Here, you can spend the night in a real-life treehouse, then use the slide to access your own private hot tub. It’s a bit more ‘out there’ compared to usual luxury glamping experiences, but the kids (and big kids) will absolutely love it.

Head to Derbyshire in 2022 and you’ll be surrounded by some of the most glorious countryside scenery in the UK.

One of the best glampsites here, according to Condé Nast Traveller, is Parkhall Pods in Mapperley. It’s perfect for people who don’t actually like camping, as its pop-up pods provide a full suite of luxuries – including Nespresso machine, hot tub, shower room and cosy bed. And you’re just a scenic cycle ride to Shipley Country Park and the Nutbrook Trail.
