Peace Camp - InTents : Update
June 27, 2012Those of you following our involvement with Peace Camp - InTents will be interested to know that the first of the schools’ tents for Peace Camp is now finished and is going up on the Southbank in London from 28th June – 1st July as part of the Poetry Parnassus festival.
A note from Miriam at Artichoke:
"Just wanted to send you a quick update to let you know where things are at with Schools’ Peace Camp.
The first of the schools’ tents for Peace Camp is now finished and is going up on the Southbank in London from 28th June – 1st July as part of the Poetry Parnassus festival.
Attached photo shows some of the kids’ work being hung in that tent. The inspiration behind the objects they made and the poems which inspired them was “dreaming about home” - so the kids made objects they love including a lego man, ice-cream cone and an Irish potato! Some are more conceptual – one girl made a ship which represented her being pulled away from home as she gets older and it being both exciting and scary.
The rest of the work in the other tents is still being made. There are a few on the schools page on Peace Camp website also.
I’ve attached a photo of one of your tents up in a school in Northumberland to help the kids there get inspiration for their installation – looks very lovely and mad!
Each tent will be travelling around events and festivals in their local areas throughout the summer. Am sorting out the exhibition schedule at the mo and will forward to you asap. Confirmed so far are a tent at the Eden Project in Cornwall from 19 july – 30 August and one at the Alnwick Garden in Northumberland from 13 july – 22 July. Dates to be confirmed in Wales, Skye and London.
All 7 tents will be displayed along the Southbank on 4th October as part of National Poetry Day.
More soon
